Wow, does it feel like winter today! As I was crossing the street, noting how “wintery” it feels, I looked at all the trucks that were out and about making deliveries, or, at least, trying to. It made me think about this time of year and delayed deliveries that are bound to happen.
Essential Wholesale & Labs plans ahead for winter making sure that we have products and ingredients available for you during the winter months so you can keep your shelves stocked and your customers happy. We continue to work on improving methods through Lean process manufacturing and to build safety stock while still maintaining small batches to ensure freshness. This is not an easy chore! Our Customer Care Team works hard to quickly identify and address problems as they arise.

Here are a few ways in which you can assure your products arrive when you need them should we experience any disrupting winter weather patterns.
- Forecasting demand – It’s important that we are aware of longer-term forecasts for products that you purchase from Essential, and with as much lead time as possible for your orders so that we can be sure to have your products in the production schedule and delivered on time.
- Safety stock – If your facilities have available storage capacity, consider building up safety stock for products you need to keep your operations running.
- Flexible deliveries – Weekend or after-hours deliveries can provide alternatives for supplying products should weather conditions impact the trucking companies.
