Kathy also provides assistance to our wholesale customers who are looking to scent one of our bases– lotions, gels, cremes, serums, and so forth. She has been part of the Essential family for seven years and, needless to say, we’re thrilled to have her on the team.
Introducing the Essential Aromatherapy Blog
Starting next week, Kathy will pen a twice-monthly column on aromatherapy, Essential Oils, herbs and flowers, the extraction process, and their use in natural and organic body care. Her first blog will focus on aromatherapy for men. This should give us all some great ideas for ‘Dads and Grads’ this coming June. Upcoming posts include the Seven Scents for Summer and What’s in the Bottle: Why Responsibly Sourcing and Extracting Essential Oils Matter. We’ll go with her to a local farmers’ market and we’ll tag along when Kathy harvests and distills Lavender Essential Oil, too.
A Little About Essential Oils
Essential Oils are concentrated extracts distilled or expressed from the roots, leaves, seeds, or blossoms of plants. Each extract contains its own mix of active ingredients, and it is this mix that determines what the oil is used for. Essential Oils can be diffused to scent the air, added to carrier oils, lotions, cremes and gels to scent the body, and, of course, are use in eau de toilette and perfumes. Essential oils have been used for nearly 6,000 years and have long been part of cultural and religious rituals. Even today Essential Oils are commonly used for spiritual, hygienic, and ritualistic purposes.
