Essential Wholesale Recipe Wall of Fame :: Orange Pomander EO Blend by Kathy & Steven
How many of you remember making orange pomanders for Christmas as a kid? It is really very simple. All you need to one fresh orange, a jar of cloves and a skewer, awl, knitting needle or some other sharp pointy tool. You begin by taking your orange and poking holes through the peel with your skewer. Then you insert the cloves into the punctures. You can use the cloves to decorate the orange as simply, or ornately, as you like. Once you have finished studding the orange with cloves you can roll the orange in whatever herbs and spices that appeal to you. Christmassy options include allspice, cardamom, nutmeg, cinnamon and peppermint. Once you have finished decorating your orange, place it in the oven on low heat. This will start the curing process. Let the orange bake for one hour and then leave it to sit out to dry completely. This should take about a week. Your finished pomander is now a natural citrus and spice diffuser which can last months or even years!
Kathy and I decided to skip the actual fruit and herbs and go directly to what we know best: essential oils! We came up with this lovely Orange Pomander Essential Oil Blend. In order to make 16 fluid ounces of Orange Pomander Essential Oil Blend combine:
5 fl. Oz Orange EO 5 Fold
3 fl. Oz Clove Leaf EO
2 fl. Oz Allspice EO
2 fl. Oz Peppermint EO, Triple Distilled
2 fl. Oz Cedar Wood EO, Himalayan
2 fl. Oz Benzoin Liquid Resin
You’ll love this warm, sweet Christmas fragrance. And like an orange pomander it can be used year round in drawers and closets or any place you want to keep smelling clean, fresh and festive!
