I’ll talk a little about my love for Lime EO. The tart yet sweet tanginess. The bright, energizing, and cheerful aroma. The heady top note of citrus. Wow! Lime reminds me of summer and evokes images of walking through citrus groves and languidly lounging under a tree reading a book. Two of my favorite things growing up in Southern California. And I guess I’m not alone in this love; in folklore, lime oil is believed to renew the spirit and mind. Who doesn’t want that!
Lime — citrus aurantifolia – is from the Rutaceae family. This citrus species of the family generally have flowers that divide into four or five parts, usually with strong scents. This family includes lemon, lime, grapefruit, orange, key lime, bergamot, tangerine, and kumquat. Lime is often substituted for lemon, and it blends beautifully with cedar, mint, neroli, citronella, lavender, lavandin, rosemary, clary sage and other citrus oils.

Limes are bitter fruit, but the essential oil the peel produces is tart, rather than bitter.
