Let’s Face It 101 Part 2 – Balancing Skincare Basics
Most of us need a little balance in our lives. And some of us need a lot of balancing! Our faces are one area, though, where we can apply a little outside help to our skincare practice to quickly achieve the smooth, calm, and radiant skin that comes when you’re feeling balanced and looking your best.
Last week you read about caring for mature skin. This week we are going to talk about how to bring skin into balance.
As you did last week, you’ll discover in this blog the skin care products you and your customers’ deserve, and how to apply them at home or in the spa.
Skincare for Balancing Skin – The Equalizer Facial Line
Perfect for all skin types, this balancing regime—we call it the Equalizer Line, is packed with antioxidants, vitamins and an assortment of rooibos tea, white tea, and green tea extracts. Step 1: Cleanse
Equalizer Cream Facial Cleanser – The Equalizer Cream Facial Cleanser is a gentle, hydrating, and replenishing cleanser for sensitive, normal and combination skin types. Your skin will reap the benefits of the massive concentration of super anti-oxidants. This cleanser has a crème texture, which leaves your skin soft, smooth, clean and nourished. - Squeeze a pea-sized amount into dampened palms.
- Rub palms together.
- Apply to wet face, neck, and chest.
- Massage in upward circular motions with your fingertips, avoiding eye area.
- Rinse thoroughly with tepid water and pat dry with a clean, soft towel.

- Massage a pea-sized amount- using effleurage, over entire face, neck and décolleté.
- Ensure easy absorption by adding water or spritzing toner.
- Use a steamed towel to remove traces of cleanser, or use a cotton pad dampened with USDA certified organic peppermint toner.
Step 2: Exfoliate
Exfoliants help remove dead skin. Exfoliating leaves skin soft and supple, enhancing a natural, fresh look.
Equalizer Facial Exfoliant is a balancing and soothing blend of aloe, coconut, jojoba, and olive oils. Using gentle, earth-friendly jojoba wax beads, this exfoliant leaves your skin so soft and supple. - Use this product every two to three days after cleansing.
- Squeeze a dime-size amount onto your fingertips and rub gently together.
- Gently massage in upward circular motions onto face avoiding eye area. Don’t forget your neck and chest.
- Rinse thoroughly with warm water and pat dry with a clean, soft towel.
- Follow with the USDA Certified Organic Peppermint Toner.

- Apply exfoliant with dampened hands to your clients’ cleansed skin.
- You can choose to use this exfoliant under steam.
- Massage the product evenly over clients’ face, neck and décolleté, concentrating on areas of concern.
- Remove all traces of exfoliant with warm damp sponges or towels.
Step 3: Tone
Toners help the skin by balancing the pH, minimizing the look of pores, removing residuals missed during cleansing and preparing the skin to receive the serums and moisturizers to come.
USDA Certified Organic Peppermint Facial Toner plays a critical step in the balancing of your skin. A cooling, organic peppermint extract helps revive, calm, and reduce the appearance of puffiness. Organic vegetable glycerin locks in moisture while organic willow bark extract soothes skin. - After removing cleanser, thoroughly moisten a cotton round
- Gently wipe over cleansed face, neck, and chest, avoiding eye area.
- Immediately apply moisturizer before toner dries.

- After removing the cleanser, spritz onto the face, neck and décolleté, ensuring to cover your client’s eyes.
- Gently use tapotement to ensure the product is delivered to the skin.
Step 4: Serum (or what we like to say, nourishment)
Serums provide fast absorbing, concentrated ingredients to create beautiful, glowing skin. Always use a small amount under your moisturizer as part of your skin care.
Equalizer Facial Serum is a balancing, fragrance-free serum that soothes and nourishes skin. This light and creamy serum helps balance and rejuvenate. Jojoba oil, shea butter, calendula butter, organic olive oil, and carrot seed oil create a luxurious, fast-absorbing serum. Your skin will love the vitamin C-rich rosehip oil, as well as borage oil, and evening primrose oil– both rich in (omega-6) fatty acids, including linoleic acid (LA) gamma linoleic acid (GLA). Step 5: Moisturize
Every face (neck and chest, too), needs a moisturizer on a daily basis. Moisturizers’ primary function is to help keep all of the nourishing oils from your serum on your skin.
