What is Micellar Water?
Micellar Water’s ingredient deck is quite simple: Deionized Water, Witch Hazel, Water, Alcohol, Glycerin, Gluconolactone (and) Sodium Benzoate, Capric/Caprylic Triglycerides [MCT Oil], Lecithin, Decyl Glucoside. That’s it! No harsh chemicals to irritate sensitive skin.

How do you use Micellar Water?
Part of Micellar Water’s effectiveness is in the application. Pour the Micellar solution on a cotton pad. This takes advantage of Cotton’s hydrophilic properties. The hydrophilic heads are attracted to the cotton, leaving the hydrophobic tails sticking up to trap oil, and dirt, including makeup, mascara and sebum. When applied to skin Micellar Water and cotton pads cleanse the skin by acting like a magnet, attracting and entrapping impurities without harsh rubbing or scraping.

When do you use Micellar Water?
Micellar Water can be used in place of your cleanser and toner, although we think a spritz of a light product like our Tea Tree and Vinegar Facial Toner can be a great addition, especially on hot, humid days when you’re feeling sticky. We like it for touching up mascara misses and for cleaning your face after being out and about on your bike, or a long car ride or anywhere you want to get your face clean when there’s no water around. We also like it on those mornings when we need to rush out the door after a late night.

What Essential Oils Would be Good to add to Natural Micellar Water?
When you think about scenting Micellar Water, it’s good to think about the Essential Oils that sooth and soften skin, like Bergamot, Chamomile, Geranium, Lavender and Neroli. You can also use an Essential Oil blend like our Gentle Skin Essential Oil Blend with Helichrysum, Tea Tree, Lavender, Roman Chamomile, and German Chamomile. We also like the Skin Balance Essential Oil Blend with Lavender, Tea Tree, Cedarwood, Roman Chamomile, and German Chamomile. Use at [0.25%]You can also add a tincture or extract to create an amazingly lush and sensual experience every time you cleanse your face. Remember when adding essential oils, blend an equal amount of Polysorbate 20 and Essential Oil together before adding to your Micellar Water to avoid separation issues. You can certainly skip the Polysorbate 20 and add your Essential Oils directly to your Micellar Water, but this will require shaking before each use.

How Should I Package Micellar Water
Micellar Water is also going to need cotton rounds or pads, so we think creating a packing duo with the Micellar Water in a bottle with a disc cap or fine mist sprayer is the way to go. If you’re adding a tincture like Hibiscus Tincture that creates a luscious color, you could think about a clear bottle. Otherwise select packaging that compliments your current brand’s packaging. We also recommend creating a travel-size version that’s approved for TSA carry on. You can work with the team at Containers & Packaging to help you find exactly what you’d like (and don’t forget to tell them you’re working with us so you get your discount!)
